Special Needs:

New Tiger Compounds

The Roar Foundation on the behalf of the Shambala Preserve needs to raise $75,000 in order to pay for the construction of two tiger compounds.

There are currently 68 exotic cats living in 44 compounds at Shambala.  Of those, 6 are young tigers who were rescued from a facility in 2002 and 2003. An additional young tiger came from a private owner who had the tiger declawed.

As tigers age, they frequently become more solitary and often can no longer live with their compound mates.  Until recently, three of the young tigers, Alexander, Dakota and Stella were living together in one compound.  In order to protect them from harm, Alexander was moved into a compound where he can live alone.

In all likelihood, many of the other young tigers as they age will also need to be put into individual compounds.  There is a particular concern about the declawed tiger, Simba, who is currently living with Zoe Tiger and Mona, both of whom have claws.

There are no empty compounds at this time.  If the Roar Foundation on the behalf of the Shambala Preserve is able to raise $75,000 it will be possible to build two new compounds which will provide the young tigers places to live if they can no longer live with their compound mates.

We are requesting that all of you who love the Wild Ones at the Shambala Preserve contribute as much as you can to assist the Roar Foundation  in paying for the new compounds.  Please send your donations to: The Roar Foundation, 6867 Soledad Canyon Road, Acton, CA 93510 or call the Preserve: (661) 268-0380.  Please specify that your donation is for the Tiger Compounds Fund.
