Mona

a Tiger

On April 14, 2003, Mona tiger and her sister Zoe were two of nine tiger cubs, 10 to 14 days old, confiscated from John Weinhart at "Tiger Rescue" in Colton, California.  He had tossed the cubs up into the attic crawl space of his home, apparently to hide them from authorities.

The morning they were found, they were brought to The Fund for Animals Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Ramona, CA.  They were cold, wet, hungry, dirty, tiny and helpless.  Both cubs had medical problems.  After several months of vet care and good nutrition the came to live at Shambala in early August, 2003.  They are now happy, playful little tigers.  Under the care of Tippi, Shambala's vets, and the Animal Crew, they recovered from the devastating conditions in which they began their lives.

Mona and tiger Simba are featured on our 2004 Membership shirts, front and back.

All of us at Shambala would like to join Mona in thanking you for your kind and generous support.
