A School Tour

As part of our Educational Program, we offer modified tours on Tuesdays to schools and other youth groups. We recently had a very special "student" tour. Teacher Whitney Salerno arranged a tour in honor of her son Matthew's 7th birthday. Whitney, and her husband Mike, have made a practice of having their 3 boys each select a non-profit organization to receive donations in honor of their birthdays. Since Matthew is an avid animal lover, he chose The Roar Foundation for his charity. In lieu of gifts, Matthew's guests brought gift bags filled with copy paper and other supplies for the Shambala office. Matthew and his brothers even cleaned out their piggy banks and donated what they had to help the animals.

Unfortunately, they arrived on a rainy day, so the boys were not able to have their tour and could only see the animals from the office windows. We will reschedule a day for them in the spring. Not only are the boys learning to appreciate the beauty and importance of some of nature's most magnificent creatures, they are also learning a lesson in the art of unselfishness. Whitney and Mike are teaching their children the joy of giving. Bravo to the Salerno Family!

For information and reservations for our educational student tours, teachers, or their representatives, may call Anita at 661-268-0380. The cost is a minimum donation of $100, or $5 per student and $15 per adult, whichever is greater.
