Garth arrived with his sister Sabrina when they were 6 months old. They were born in Oklahoma and were declawed on all 4 paws by their former owner. The owner had a reptile license and transported them to New York. As he did not have permits for them he either had to find them new homes or risk losing his reptile license. They came to Shambala in December of 1996.

Surprisingly they still live together even though they are mature tigers. Generally tigers are solitary creatures who prefer to live alone but they both get along just fine. Garth is more social but Sabrina is not; she does not like large groups of people.
